By A Home in Seattle
These dark and dreary fall days can be a little daunting for those stuck at home with toddlers. Where do you go to get out all that pent up energy? Not to worry, I’ve discovered the three best outings for toddler time in my Shoreline backyard (just north of Seattle). None of these activities are exclusive to Shoreline residents, so no matter where you live, there are great destinations for you
1. Cafe aroma
Cafe Aroma is an anchor of Shoreline’s Ridgecrest neighborhood and gives simple and homey vibes. While you will see the occasional tech bro on their MacBook, the clientele tends to be a bit more eclectic - small business owners, board gamers, church groups, moms on coffee dates. But the best feature is the kids room in the back. Any toddler parent will appreciate the beauty of a completely separate room for your kiddos, chock full of new-to-you toys. If I’m being honest, the space could use a face-lift, but my toddler could care less. She loves playing at Cafe Aroma and I love sipping my latte while she entertains herself.
Using the room is free, though it’s polite to buy a coffee - which you need since you’re taking care of a toddler!

2. Indoor Playground at the Spartan Recreation Center
The Spartan Rec Center is a City of Shoreline service and their indoor playground is perfect for toddlers, especially on these rainy days. The space is a huge gym filled with everything your toddler’s heart desires. Slides, cars, a climbing area, hula hoops - you name it! The best part? The Indoor playground is drop-in and costs just $2 for Shoreline Residents!
Ages 1-5 (parent supervision required)
$2 Shoreline Residents/$2.50 Non-Residents
Mon/Wed/Fri, 10:00am - 12:00pm
Spartan Recreation Center: 202 NE 185th Street, Shoreline, WA 98155
3. Richmond Beach Saltwater Park
Seattle parents know that a little rain never hurt anyone. Rain or shine we love heading to Richmond Beach to throw rocks, and hunt for shells. Pack a picnic lunch and your Tuffo rain suit and enjoy the stunning scenery. There’s plenty of parking and it’s just a short walk over a footbridge to the beach.
